Just noticed... Engine isn't orange
Seller of the truck i just got said it had a 350ci, but it's blue. The specs of the truck say it was originally a 400ci not a 350ci, so were these blue in 1975 or has it been reengined or repainted? Where do i find the numbers and check?

Re: Just noticed... Engine isn't orange
Should be orange, 76 was the last year of orange. There should be a suffix code with partial vin stamped behind the alternator, There are casting numbers on the block on the drivers side, next to the distributor, below the head. a 400 and 350 will have different balancers as well. However, trucks of this vintage have most likey had lots of parts replaced and they typical done to the owners preferance. The motor may have been rebuilt, but the owner didnt like orange.

Re: Just noticed... Engine isn't orange
Gm started painting the engines (GM corporate blue) around 1975 or 76. before that they were orange
