Anyone over 6ft driving these trucks?

I swear I love this truck but I can't fit in it worth a damn. What are people doing to fit? Lower seats, bucket seats, tilt steering?

88-91 bench seat worked good for me. Lower and way thinner at your shoulder 6'3"

6'4", 200ish here...raised the seat. Don't know where your guys' height is, but I need leg room not torso/head room. Sitting up straight I look out the windshield at about the level where that tint line is on OEM glass.

Im 6'2" in my 77 and it does SUCK to try and fit. ESPECIALLY with no tilt......

Thanks guys. head room is not the issue by far, I am only 6'1. It's leg room. Steering wheel is in my chest and the seat height literally has the bottom of the steering wheel rubbing the top of my legs....I just don't feel safe going fast in this truck until I can get comfortable.

cut out the floor.. put in a subaru seat as low down and back as i could.. even took a bit out the bottom of the seat, then collapsed the column by about 2 inches.. enough that i have to move the all the electrics off the column as it interfered with the pedals.

And, to the guy who asked, the 88-94 seat is in no way a bolt in. I swapped one into my dually.

Do you have the original seat and does the seat go all the way back, I really do have plenty of room to drive it, and I usually put the tilt steering wheel down.

I put ferd exploder buckets and a smaller steering wheel in my 76. Much more comfortable than my 81 with a stock bench seat. I just need the leg room, and with the buckets I can raise, lower, tilt, or adjust lumbar with the push of a button!

Kinda used the square body seat track. Two bolts lined up and made a 2" spacer up front. I'll dig up a pic. Gimme a bit

@ 6'4" and 260lbs. i find all the squares i've owned comfy as a living room sofa. All you need is to drive a 50's truck for a little perspective adjustment.
The most uncomfortable thing i own is my wifes 2001 burb.

My buddy is 6'6 385, he can only fit in double cabs. Hes not rotund, just a big boy. We made seat tracks that moved his bench seat an extra 4 1/2" back. Im 5'10 and cant drive his truck.

I am a plus size 6'-2" and rapidly diminishing 210#. When I had the stock seat reupholstered I had an extra inch or so of firmer foam installed, which raised up the seat quite a bit and gave me more legroom while still having adequate head clearance. I keep the tilt all the way up.

I am toying with the idea of installing a pair of Chrysler Sebring convertible seats I scored at the local pick and pull this past summer, but I think the extra bracket fabrication required would raise them back up to about the same dimensions I have.

I'm just at 6' myself and I found that when I swapped in a bench seat while I was having my factory bucket seats re-upholstered I felt like they sat me way higher and closer to the steering wheel. I have factory tilt myself and I always tilt the wheel down myself. I prefer the factory bucket seats myself.... seem to have plenty of room and don't feel like I'm sitting on a phonebook, like I do with the bench.

6'1", I also have leg room issues. Tilt is a great help with arm position. Since there is lots of head room I'm going to put a 2" riser (square tubing) under the seat when I redo it. I find high back buckets are worse, and modern seats with integrated belts are the absolute worst. Whoever designs today's seats believes that the points in my shoulderblades are about 3" below where they really are. That forces the top of my back forward, very uncomfortable. When you raise the seat watch out for your seat belt comfort if you have shoulder belts.

I suggest that anyone wanting more room put something on the seat to temporarily raise up your sitting height to see if that helps. A lot of this has to do with how long your arms and legs are, relative to the length of your torso. We are not all proportionately built (especially around the middle

At 6' I have plenty of room in both my 87 Chevy std cab and 89 Crewcab (both have factory bench seats and tilt column). My 1980 std cab, factory original bench seat with fixed steering column, I barely fit in. The only 2 things I can figure is the fixed column on the 1980 is longer or maybe more foam in the bench putting me closer to the steering wheel???

Either way, there is a NOTICEABLE difference in how much closer I sit(e.g. less comfortable) in the 1980 compared to the other 2.

I'm 6'3" and 220 (muscles, not a gut) and every square I get into feels tight. The steering wheel could easily be pushed back a good 4-6 inches and I could use another 3-4 inches in leg room. I tried to test drive a truck that had Blazer buckets swapped into a no-tilt truck and I could hardly get into it. Felt like I was driving from my crotch.

The only way I feel comfortable driving my truck is with the tilt at least midway up or higher, which is just wrong compared to what I want to do (tilt up feels like driving a bus). I want to collapse the steering shaft like I've seen someone do on here...

6'2" and 200lb here. I use my truck for 2-3000 mile road trips every summer and I'm always amazed at how comfortable a 33 year old seat is. I just have to keep reminding myself of what mom used to say, and stay sitting up straight. If I slouch then leg room goes to hell and I have a back ache.

Im only 5' 8" but I feel cramped in a single cab. nothing but crewcabs for me now.
