Tie Rod Ends...WTH??

1987 GMC V1500 4x4 tie rod end question. I am finally getting ready to swap the new rebuilt front end under it w/3.42s, new ball joints and all and I am trying to replace factory tie rod ends and all.

This is what is on mine, stock. The long hollow bar (drag link) that has a tie rod screwed in each side.

I couldn't find a replacement for that bar so I bought a part from autozone to replace it which is a 1" solid bar with a tie rod end on the drivers side and threads on the passenger side. Now, I cant find a tie rod that screws on the passenger side of the bar.

Any ideas??

Re: Tie Rod Ends...WTH??

All I see on Amazon is screw in tie rods as in male threaded, I need a female one to screw on that long drag link/center link.

EDIT.. Looked in LMC catalog and apparently there is supposed to be an adjusting sleeve there. Makes sense I guess.

Anyone know where I can find the cargo lamp mounting gasket/pad besides lmc?

sorry, left that part out...thought that the old one would have that on there. I got my sleeve at NAPA, just ask for the 1" sleeve.

Re: Tie Rod Ends...WTH??

So the 1" sleeve wont fit... Also, it is the only one they sell. The 1" fits the pitman arm to steering arm, but the front tie rods are larger in diameter. Maybe 1.25". Help?

Take the whole thing back to AZ. If they can't find it, then what they sold you won't work. Quite possible they just got you the wrong one.

It's up to them to make it right.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.
