Re: 250/700r4 combo?

Ok since mine already has a v8 in it is switching to a 250/700r4 going to be a complicated pain in butt or a simple swap. or should i just find a smaller v8 and put it in if rhat would be sier.

Just need to fabricate engine mounts or get some used ones.

Re: 250/700r4 combo?

I have got to ask a question, why? I personally would keep the 350 and put the 700 in. Is the 350 bad? What gear does your diff have? Ok that's 3 questions. I have a 350/700 combo and probably wouldn't trade it for anything except 5 speed.

Too bad we do not have dyno information on your truck. When we look at our torque spreadsheet it seems your truck in its basic 250 155hp is a little weak kneed in stock form (419ft lbs of torque) with the tall rubber. If we think your mods have made your 250 perform more like a 292 then you do have an acceptable amount of torque (491 ft lbs). So the combination of the mods with a 4 barrell carb and you keeping your foot out of the back 2 barrells make your truck get good fuel mileage.....Torque within a usable range of speeds makes for a good combination. mph @ 2000 rpm 66mph great set up. Kieth

ps We use 460 ft/lbs as a general guide for acceptable performance because we know it works in my 350 TBI, 700r4, 3:73, 30"diameter rear tires..
