part name help

OK I am sure stupid question what is the name of the part that is inside the engine bay that the hoses go to passenger side that looks like is used for defrost?

I think you mean the "Heater Box" or "heater Core"?

OK so next question is where can I get one?

Or the better question is I have the piece inside the cab do not have the box inside the engine bay. I am trying to reconnect everything. Do I need the heater box or is there another way to hook everything back up?

You have to have the box itself, because if you want heat you have to have the heater core. one other solution is to buy a heat/air unit that either under or in dash but that is rather costly. I'm sure you can pick up the parts for the outside of the firewall from someone here on the site, and buy a new heater core, from a aftermarket dealer, or maybe even napa.

OK here is what I have. Just not sure what or if k need anything else to make it work. Anybody know what I need and can tell me what to do to get it to work?

you do NOT have the deluxe heater as pictured above i am not familiar with the standard heater so i cant tell you just what you have but from the pic it has a lever that switches it from heat to defrost that is manually operated .....what year we working with here? looks like it may have had ac at one time in its life with the other holes i see ....ok i just did some hunting and it looks like that heater is out of a 55 to 59 pickup

It's a 1965. It did have a/c but was put together correctly so I took it off.

one cable running to the hose that looks like it should connect the pipes sticking out of the fire wall. that's about it. the truck had an aftermarket a/c on it but was ugly and seemed like it was not put together correctly so I took it off I am now just trying to get what I posted back together.

that is not a stock heater for a 60-66. you need hose's from the water pump and manifold to the heater nipples.

Here are the hoses. Any suggestions. If all I have to do is hook up these hoses that would be great.

Yes hook up the hoses there should be a fan on the inside im guessing if it is hooked up and working? you could put a valve in the line from the intake man. fitting that you can shut off in the summer..... as i said before the heater you have looks like is out of a 59 chevy pickup

I agree with jtrichard, That is not either of the '60-'66 heaters. It is from another year of truck that someone has installed into your truck. You should be able to just connect your heater hoses to those nipples, and you will have heat and defrost. However it will not work as well and the original deluxe heater. Depending on the climate in your area that may or may not be an issue. The '55-'59 heaters don't do very well in cold climates as we have here in North Idaho. You might be better off to repair the AC/heater that was in your truck and reinstall that, versus what you have in there now.

Thank you all for the help. I wish I had the original heater but I do not. I would love to find the economy heater that was in the 60-63. But on the other hand I am in southern Mississippi so it does not get to cold here and when it does it does not last long. Thank you all for all the help I love this forum everybody is always so helpful for us guys that are not to smart.

Yes ....that will keep the extra heat out of the cab in the summer time
