panel vs carryall roof structure

i have a suspicion that the interior roof structure is different between a 64-66 panel vs a carryall (suburban). can anyone verify that?

Re: panel vs carryall roof structure

The GM part number for the roof is 3778826 for 1960-1966 Panel truck and 3778830 for 1961-1966 Suburban. Not sure why they skipped 1960 but most likely a very small change. This is from a 1970 Chevrolet parts book.

from a couple pics of headliners it appears the inner structure is different than what i have on a 64. i probably can't paint a word picture but the ribs are exposed on the sides of my panel and from what i have seen the carryall extends the sheet metal up the side (corner) past the bend on the side

I think I understand where you are talking about. On the Suburban(Carryall) there are removable panels above the side windows that finish out that area.
There are also sheet metal panels surrounding the windows, too, that I would guess would not be needed on the Panel, therefore exposing more of the structural parts.

The horizontal brace above the windows on a Carryall, seems very similar to the panel inner structure.

right; the panel does not have the extra sheet metal the way that the suburban does. the roof on both separate at the gutter.

Sheet metal screws are what's securing mine in my '65 'Burb, and a few oval headed machine screws
