LS1/T56 swap question
Wanting to do an LS1/T56 swap into my '71 truck. It's a 350/350 combo so I'm worried about the trans fitting under the cab considering that I don't have a high hump cab. What could be done to make it fit, fab work, possibly a body lift?
Also, any idea what the clutch pedal setup will look like and what I'll have to change to fit all that stuff in the engine bay? |

You could always cut out the floor and install a high hump if you need the room. Mine actually fit however it is very very tight.
I did the install about 8 or 9 years ago back before everybody was doing it. I built my own mounts so I would say the mounts you choose will play a role in where it all will sit. I did start originally with a 4l60e tranny so I built it around that at the time. The new T56 made it close.

Go for the high hump, from a 6 cyl truck....you will find it to be a tad longer, & this may help with the shifter placement on the T-56 ? Longhorn
