Tunes in the C10- hidden & loud

In my search for highway jamming and stop light foot tapping, I came up with this setup:

- glovebox mounted bluetooth Sony CD player

- 8" sub next to the gas tank in custom box
- two pioneer 3-way enclosed speakers under the seat

I wanted to keep the factory look and hide everything. The two pioneer speakers fit perfect under the seat. I also wanted to utilize bluetooth technology. The Sony does a great job at syncing my phone to play audio (mp3's, pandora, slacker...). The SONY will recognize my iphone around 20ft away, all with the glove box door shut and hidden. You can even control the volume level with your phone. The 8" sub is small and tucked away in that void next to the gas tank. It provides a nice thump to fill the sound. This Sony is able to push the 8" with just the head unit, NO amp.

I was shocked at the sound. It is louder than I will ever need it to be and sounds good too!

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I know very little about modern musical technology.

Awesome setup! Sounds great, nice to know there's enough room for a sub without relocating the tank, thank you very much for saving me a little headache.

Re: Tunes in the C10- hidden & loud

That does sound good! I was just talkin to my buddy last night about my planned audio system. I am dead set against seeing any of the audio. He builds all these fiberglass bass boxes and door panel build outs and such. He can't wrap his mind around not being able to see anything! I've had to steer him and he is still convinced that I would at least need 6 1/2s in the kick panels. I keep telling him I'm not looking for award winning I just want a decent stereo that YOU CAN'T SEE! We aren't there yet so I'm not really worried about it.

Here is the link:

It is a dual voice coil and is a great value. It's wattage is not real high, which makes is great for a head unit driven sub.

The sub box is a tight fit. I had to loosen the gas tank straps and squeeze the sub box in, then re-tighten the straps. I can get the box dimensions if anybody would like them.

Re: Tunes in the C10- hidden & loud

I plan to fab up some mounts to flush mount two 5 1/4" speakers under the dash and a multi piece unit where the stock tank was since I got a sub box for free that has two 8" subs which will get painted after I finish removing the ugly carpet. I can get the Custom Autosound head unit at wholesale thru work so I can use either my ipod or a usb stick. My truck was radio delete so its clean now.

Here's what we did in my son's truck. We made some boxes out of some 1/8" aluminum that we had. It use to be a sign. Free but not stolen.
