U Felts for Slider Channels
I am rebuilding my four slider windows. I inherited a bunch of rubber and felt with the project, but one u channel felt is bad. I checked with Steele and they don't supply it. Anyone know where this can be sourced?

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
Are you sure Steele doesn't have it? I know I have seen it online listed with standard profiles and I could swear it was on Steele's site.

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
I just replaced mine with C R Laurence 10G96 glass run channel. It's a perfect replacment. It comes in 96" pieces and can be bought at your local glass company. I got it cheaper buying it local then getting it on line.

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
You'd have to check the measurements but this may fit. Universal felt kits..

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
I bought some from Classic Parts a few years ago. Not sure if they still handle them.

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
Truck Shop in Orange,Ca. has kits for your sliders. I purchased 4 of em for my 64 Sub. Kits are pretty decent. They give you about two inchs of extra material on everything thats in the kit so "measure twice, cut once.

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
So if I buy,
Weatherstrip, quarter window p/n: 70-1593-81 Vulcanized sliding quarter window channel. Please order carefully. Depending upon the configuration of your vehicle, you may need to order two units of this part number or in combination with 70-1728-81. $209.50 $209.50 This is just the rubber pieces that hold the windows to the body? I still need to buy felt for inside the channels? What else? Looks like I'm going to have 1k in window parts

Re: U Felts for Slider Channels
Yah the cost to rebuild the sliders is hell! Especially when you have four of them. Makes the solid pane conversion looks good...and you still have enough to put in AC!
Thanks for all the info. In the end the CR Laurence lead was the ticket. Seems that many of the parts are available to window shops through standard channels, and the specialty part is just the rubber moulding. Scottie. |
