Need help please
Hey guys,
I just bought my dream truck. A 1964 chevy k10 4x4. It has the original 292 engine and transmission. All of the front fenders(they have small rust spot that was patched with a big ugly stainless plate...),hood, bed, etc. are original. Just missing the trim and not original paint. I am going to put new tires and rims on it (31's are too small for me). I was wondering if anyone knew the max tire size I can fit under her without shaving the fenders or rubbing. My dad has the same year truck but his is a k20 and he has 35's on his. I would like to go bigger then that. Also does anyone know if there are any lifts available? If not any suggestion on getting her up higher would be great. Pictures included(big blue is my dads. Pic is from when we picked it up where he bought it from). |

Re: Need help please
I also have a 64 k10 basically stock it had 36 in military surplus tires on it that were basically bald when i bought it and know i have 35 in bfg's on it. I really think 35 is as big as you can go without some kind of lift. The 35's rub on the steering box when turning right and when the suspension is maxed the back wheels just barely rub the wheel wells. Good luck with you tire selection! If your able to fit anything bigger let me know how you did it, I'm hoping to get 37's on mine! Here is a pic of mine with the bald 36 military tires don't have a pic of it with the 35's yet.

Re: Need help please
I was running 33"s on my 65 K-10 before I tore it down. I had no rubbing anywhere. I to had searched for a lift kit with no luck. I had a local spring shop build me a new set of springs with a small lift in them. A spring shop should be able to make you new springs with most any amount of lift you would want in them. Remember to match gears to your new tires. What part of PA are you in?

Re: Need help please
I have 34 x 10.50 with no rub, I did replace the front springs with some early 70's 3/4 ton Chevy. I ended up removing the shackle and welded in a slider shackle to accommodate the longer springs. |
