Vortec V8 Conversion Thread

Does anybody think a Vortec V8 Conversion Thread would be a good idea? I'm seeing so many of these trucks getting Vortec Motors, mine included here next month, it seems like having a Central Resource would be great to answer questions. Thinking about Gas Tanks, in tank fuel pumps, radiators, engine mounts and the ever spooky PCM and wiring harness details.

Just Thinking, or has it already been done in here?

Re: Vortec V8 Conversion Thread

Are you talking about a single thread on installing an LS type Vortec engine? This is a whole sub-forum, I think one thread would be hard to navigate through to find any kind of specific information.

Re: Vortec V8 Conversion Thread

Yup, I'm New to this Forum and didn't know if it had been done before or what everybody thought.

You're sure right there's a Ton of issues to be addressed from reliably Indentifying just What Model Vortec V8 you're Looking For or At 5.3 , 6.0 years, flex fuel, other features and supporting parts needed before you even begin.

Just floated the idea to see if there's much interest. In just 2004 alone there were over 1 Million of these V8 engines & drive trains manufactured and used in all kinds of GM platforms. Makes it seem like their cost effective use in our 67-72 trucks in increasing numbers is pretty obvious, probably inevitable.
