Newer style Extendable mirrors

Anyone have any luck putting newer style Extendable Mirrors on a mid 80 ' s Silverado?
I can't seem to find anyone with some pictures or info.
I'm thinking of trying it out. It looks like I'd have to eliminate the corner door glass and make some sort of bracket.
This is the only picture I found that would be similar.
Any clues or Pics would be GREAT!

People do it with the dodge mirrors on fords like this, maybe you could do something similar?





Search OBS ford towing mirrors for more pictures and ideas. I think blocking off the entire vent window would cause a huge blind spot and probably isnt a good idea. Please dont hate me for posting ford pictures lol...

There is a build on here ofawhite crew with twin turbo cummins swap who is doing this and has some fairly detailed photos of his process. Search "89 crew cab k20 4x4 cummins twin turbo swap".

'89-'91 OEM SUBURBAN/BLAZER/CREW CAB power mirror assemblies. Then order the the heads from http://powervisionmirrors.com/gm/gm_models the top 8 listings should fit the bases of the mirrors for our vehicles. When I did the heated turn signal pgrade a few years ago, all I had to do is unbolt the mirror heads from the bases, swap them around and wire them up. And looking at the instructions for these mirrors, They look like a simple swap as well.

Thanks guy's. Yeah bojak The 89 cummins project page was exactly what I Was looking for. Kinda the same setup as you bluex. Those mirrors look soo sweet. They look factory too. Let the project begin...muhahaha.

Are you guys thinking too hard? I'm a very 'old style' kind of guy who believes all the good ideas happened in the last century. I still listen to 8 tracks and vinyl LP's. My newest vehicle was built in 1986. How about going with a no nonsense, non plastic, no wiring large pair of 75 truck mirrors like the pair I'd like to see on somebody's truck. They also fold out of the way and with a lot simpler design. Besides the durability factor (they're made out of good old American steel), they have one thing none of the others seem to have and that is height. They're 10 inches tall which allows you to easily see if you've got height clearance behind you. As for the guy in the video who has the issue with wide mirrors, he should give his cardio-vascular system a break and knock off the coffee, or at least park his truck until he cools down. Anyway,the issue is really the width of today's trucks, which is why the mirrors have to be able to be folded away. Maybe I'm just an out of date old raisin, but it's something to consider. It's all I've got left from my '75 3/4 ton Chevy.

well those have no power or heat either one glass and there no taller than the ones i posted. to each his own but me i like the power options.
