Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

63-64 chevy c-10's were 17 spline axles. 65-66 chevy c-10's were 30 spline axles. Same 12 bolt housings.. you must be talking about the NOS 63-64 3.07 gears on ebay? A lot of companies make the 30 spline gears....check into Summit racing.

I believe the GMC's were Dana 44's and not sure on the 3/4 -1 ton.

Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

That's a question for someone with more experience on rear ends than me. I believe the gears will work, its the axles that won't interchange.

Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

Well, Im guessing here but by the GM Part numbers AND my parts books in each case, the 3:07s and 3:73s do show a different part number for the ring gear, pinion is the same part number as 65 and up. So the ring gear could be cut different for the inside diameter or the bolt holes could be different to match up to the case, could be something else ? Im looking in later issue GM books and normally if it was the same they would have changed the part number to fit all. Hope this helps

Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

Any reference for the 3817776 stamped on the pinion? I assume the 14 43 stamped in is for the 3.07 gear?

Correct, 3;07 pinion gear, the ring gear is 3817779 and OOPS looks like I need to edit what I said earlier, its NOT the ring gear that's different its the PINION and by what Ive traced it now to is the yoke fits 60-64 and 65-72 up is different so Im going to check the spline count on the front of the pinion

Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

Not really , coarse spline is weaker , the fine spline is the stronger one

Re: Help ring and pinon p/n

Those gears should fit any truck 12 bolt housing with the correct series carrier and the correct yoke.
