HELP: 1947-53 Chevy Sub Frame Swap ???

Hi Im Looking To Build A 47 - 53 Chevy Truck. 3100 or 3600
I've Been looking at Several Trucks An Haven't Decided On Which Is The Best Deal.Since All Need Some Work . I First Thought Of Doing A S10 Swap But Not Sure I Wanna Do This After Seeing Some Trucks At Shows That just Have Sub Frames An 4 Link Rears Using Stock Frames. My Question Is What Year Sub Frame Would You Use? Some Say Camaro Some Say Novas..Which Years??? I Wanna Slam It Too...Or Id just Use Stock Chassis An Drop Springs.

Thanks For any Info ..John AKA Lowroder

I'm going to throw something else your way.

Chevy Trailblazer. There's more and more of them in the Junkyard now. They already have a rear 4 link, 4 wheel discs, power steering, fuel injected 6. What's not to like?

You may have to lengthen the frame or shorten it a couple inches, depending on what model you get (standard or EXT).

I kind of like it.

Seems interesting indeed... Whitedog,
I Can Get A std Cab longbed S10 Frame.
But Was Not Sure If Frame Swap VS. Sub Frame & 4 Link Would Just Be Easier An Cheapest. Saw A Few Trucks At Autorama An They Just Had Clips w/ 4links
They Said They Built Theres B4 The S10 Swap Got Popular.....

Re: HELP: 1947-53 Chevy Sub Frame Swap ???

Another option is to use the complete front crossmember from a G body (Monte Carlo, Regal, etc...) or S-10. From what I understand it's a good, clean swap.

A guy by the name of Scott Danforth does good work with G body subframes. Google him and see what you find.

The more Trailblazer swaps I see, the more I like them though. I've had a TB for close to 10 years now and it's been about as trouble free as it gets. It still pulls down over 20 MPG with the 6 cylinder and has plenty of power to boot.

The guys that have done the 4200 engine swap are getting 250 HP at the wheels on a stock engine with an uncorked exhaust and a tune. When you do the math, that's over 300 HP at the flywheel. If you compare that to a 283 or 305 small block, it wipes the floor with them. The Turbo guys are squeezing 500-600 ponies out of these engines. Think about that. Then you consider that you get disc brakes and are riding on coils in all 4 corners.

Like I said, the more I see it, the more I like it. The S10 just seems outdated now.
