Transmission Tunnel Build
So I need to build a transmission tunnel. Moved the engine back far enough to change this now.
Anybody have any pics of their mod or know of a build that shows options? I need ideas. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Transmission Tunnel Build
Here's what i did. Built the frame out of some steel rod and then covered it.
Would have been a lot easier if I had a roller to put a curve in the sheet metal first. Kim |

Re: Transmission Tunnel Build
Are you looking for a rounded one like Kim did, or squared off corners? Most folks use poster board to design it, then transfer that to sheet metal.
I've heard of people using an acetolene bottle and a ratchet strap to form the curves, or for the squared corner style you can just throw a piece of sheet in a press brake and form it that way. I even have a buddy that modified an old John Deere model 40 hood to make one for his '48 Ford pickup. Its all in what you like and the style of the build. |

Re: Transmission Tunnel Build
Would you still need to create the hump if installing a 350 motor and Th350 trans?

Re: Transmission Tunnel Build
i have a 350 w/ 700r4 trans and had to do a minimal mod on the stock trans cover because i moved my motor back an inch
in stock location a 350/350 will fit without any modification to the floor
