I really like the truck shown on page 2, it's a real beauty and desirable with the short wide bed. Like you, I would be concerned about what is under the paint, but that could be part of negotiating a price. I'd also really want to check out that air suspension, take pictures and ask the experts on here if it looks okay or would need to be redone. Not everyone knows how to do those right and could be much more troublesome than any rust/paint issues.

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
Older thread that has been revived and I didn't read every comment on every post, but the first time I "really" took notice of those '60 and '61 Hoods is when I went to work for a construction company back in '71. We had a '60 GMC 1-Ton Dump in our fleet and I thought it just one of the coolest things. The truck was a little old and ratty by that time, but I always loved how the truck looked as well as how great it sounded with the 305 V-6. Finally got a chance to drive it one day and it didn't dis-appoint. Even though my regular truck was a '62 with a 478 V-6, that 1-Ton Dump was another reason on how I got hooked on these great old trucks, many years ago.

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
I'd love to put one of these hoods on my '66, but finding one on this side of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon seems impossible.

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
I loved those 60-61 hoods they were hard to find in the 80's. I wanted one for my 65. The gmc hoods rot out quicker than the chevy up in these parts.

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
I have a 66 daily driver but I'm working slowly on a frame off resto-mod 61 and I love it! I prefer the 60-62 over any other in the series. (Still want a 55 some day however)
No pics right now as it's down to frame but she will be a beauty some day |

Re: How many '60 and '61 "Ugly Snout" trucks survive?
One of the things my painted did was run seam sealer in every crevice to keep water out. I STRONGLY recommend this for all.

I would like to find a hood like that for my 66 to be honest. I've always preferred that hood.

I have always like the double hump dash and the "ugly" snout of the earlier years.
