How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

Just got done putting in my flip kit on the 73. Now my driveshaft is in close I have maybe an inch gap. What is too deep in transmission. Should I be worried??

Re: How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

If I were measuring for a new driveshaft I would bottom out the yoke, pull it out one inch and measure from centerline of the yoke to centerline of the diff yoke. If you feel like you have 1" of travel (at ride height) then you should be good.

Re: How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

I just had a driveline built for my 63. The driveline shop told me to do exactly what BMERDOC said. Push yoke all the way in , pull out 1 inch then measure ( at ride height )

Re: How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

Attempted to make a drawing of how in installed flip kit. not sure if its clear though. so the flip kit bracket that goes in between axle and leafs has a hole in it for the leaf spring pin. I installed that bracket with the hole facing rear of vehicle, the bottom plate for u bolts is lined up with the offset hole and the center hole is facing front of vehicle. so is it installed correctly or do I need to flip it around? hard finding any information on this

Re: How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

My djm came with instructions.. tho the actual backets didnt fit.. just redo the notch? What kind of notch is it? Even if you have to cut it out its still less work and cheaper than a frame swap.

Re: How deep it too deep! Driveshaft yoke

Bolt in mcgauphys notch, only thing is if I move it back there won't be enought room for the front bottom bolt to be bolted to frame. Going to check with a local shop to see how much to move it back weld it in and box it in.
