1966 LWB 4x4 K....but its a 1967....

I went to look at a truck yesterday.....the truck is in need of inners outters and a roof....its a factory 4x4 K model 4 speed raised floor V8 truck,I saw title,glove box spid,vin tag is original on the truck,but its a 1967 small back window cab...someone please explain? could you get a 67 body in late 66?

What's the VIN? You can decode the year from that.

not necessarily. mine says 5K, but it is registered as a 64

Yes, it's registered as something, but the VIN tells you the actual year.

So it was possible to purchase a 1967 model year vehicle in the later part of the 1966 calendar year. And it wasn't uncommon for the person typing up the original title / registration papers to accidentally enter the current calendar year instead of the vehicle's model year. Like jayoldschool said ... go by the VIN for the model year.
