I AM LOOKING TO PAINT MY 72. IS IT BETTER TO SAND IT MYSELF? OR SHOULD I HAVE THE SHOP DO THE WHOLE THING? IF I DO SAND...ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I'm not a body man, so I can't help you there.

Welcome to the board from MN!

You may get more of a response on the paint and body board, or just the plain 67-72 message board
My 2 cents is let the body shop do the sanding and the painting that way they can make sure the body is ready and right for paint. Prep is 90% of what matters when it comes to a nice paint job.

I agree with Diane the prep work is the most important.. these old truck have little dings were you cant even imagine!!! and after the new paint you'll see every one I usually spend about 3-4 weeks on sanding~body work alone good luck and welcome to the board
