CPP Power steering bracket question
I got a CPP6066PSK power steering bracket kit and I don't know if this looks right. I haven't drilled anything yet but the instructions online say to bolt top left and bottom right bolts first for drilling. This kit is supposed to be for 60-66 and I have a 61. I included a picture of the outer bracket. Is it supposed to protrude above and below the frame like mine is?

He can explain[easily] what to do and why do it when you finish the conversion and suddenly you have a dangerous truck that steers adequately when making left turns but dangerously-short when making a right turn. Also, advice re: would you prefer extra-easy wheel-turning or a quicker,sporty-feel? Buy correctly with 1st purchase & learn how to determine correct one for your preference. Why re-learn and re-write his encyclopedia of info that is already "published"? And, NO, I do not refer for commissions--but just for helping fellow truck-lovers. HTH, Sam |

Sam, what a spokesman for Capt Fab you are! Unfortunately Capt fab does not yet make 60-62 brackets. I asked him personally. Nor did he have any 63-66 brackets available for purchase at the time when I tried to buy one from him. Great points though brother, he does make some nice stuff. I have seen it, which is why I went to him first.

Thanks Captainfab. I looked all evening for a thread like that one. I'm not sure but I think I might have a problem with my pitman arm too. Didn't look like it was gonna work but I didn't get everything situated. Thanks again. Moving on!

how wide is your frame on the 61 where the plate bolts?

I will check when I get home. It's not a c-channel frame. It's square tubed.

yes my frame is c-channel on my 4x4 and yours is boxed type. is the curve the same as the later c-frame? I would try and mount it so your pitman arm lines up correctly.

Looks good, just did one on my 62. The two holes that protrude above and below the frame should be threaded. You will drill out the same two holes on the gear box and install the bolts from the opposite side.

I've been a beta tester on a couple projects for Captain.
I put together his template for his power steering bracket. I now have my 65 back that I put on a 62 frame. I want to help him get one for the 60-62's made.

just comparing the 2 frames, mine is wider than yours. capt-plate fit mine even though it was for a 2wd. looks like you have it figured out. somebody on here always has the info. happy steering---------
