Coolant??

Hey all, 2011 5.3. I have been trying to get a good answer but cant find one, what kind of coolant should I run? I have been using just water but I don't think that is a good idea. I have read good and bad about dex-cool but I don't know much about coolant.

Thanks for any help

Re: Coolant??

Chevrolet engineers made that stuff for a reason, I am sticking with what they recommend!

Re: Coolant??

just type in dexcool in a general search. Lots of hits and misses.
plain old green stuff? all good.
I myself had a bad experience with dexcool on a tahoo. it gummed up my heater core and found out there was a tech bulletin on dexcool. Never again

Re: Coolant??

from what I've gathered....those that had problems with dexcool were more likely to have a leak and more importantly... a low coolant level.
sealed and full systems don't generally have the same problem. My TBSS is 7-8yrs old now and still running dexcool without a problem. System was flushed early at like 25k mi. and truck has 97k now.

That said.....when I do flush it this summer it'll probably get the green stuff.

Wink Re: Coolant??

I have a 08 Tahoe with it and it has 70,000 on it no problems. My wifes 2011 Treverse has it 60,000 my 71 has it in the 6.0 my son's 2014 camaro has it. It's new.
I don't see a problem with it but who knows. GM isn't recalling them for coolant yet!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
