No Front Bumper

I'm starting to like our trucks without a front bumper. Maybe a roll pan or ?

I agree. Will look better with a chrome bumper. You always do a good job on these trucks so what ever you come up with I bet it will look good!

Re: No Front Bumper

There are a few trucks with the front "rollpan", but the front starts to look like a damn Corvair because of how the pan sits. IF you don't like the bumper, a tucked bumper might be better for you. Basically, you modify the mount horns back about an inch, which "tucks" the bumper into the body, taking out the 3/4" or so of crumple it would have. Then trim the rounded corners down to fit the body angle (think the shape of the letter "r")

Re: No Front Bumper

I personally would prefer a front bumper...helps with grill protection.

Re: No Front Bumper

The front bumper is a huge styling feature on our trucks and needs to be installed for the front to look complete. But, that doesn't mean that it's the perfect shape. You can do some narrowing and thinning of the stock bumper, and if it's done tastefully, will still serve to protect the front end in a crash but still look custom and unique.

If you ever watch the show Overhaulin', Chip NEVER leaves the bumpers untouched. He feels that any stock bumper can be improved. I think he does a nice job on all of his bumpers, because in the end, they look custom but still look factory.

Re: No Front Bumper

I think I like this look because back in the day we would remove the front bumper from our 55, 6 and 57 chevys and they instantly looked like a Hot Rod. I lived the Gasser days. Most of you here have seen my 65 and I have a new LMC front bumper on it and plan to keep it on, I'm just having fun with this old ratty 64 right now. Love the input!!

Re: No Front Bumper

If you prefer something different while still offering protection, you can always fabricate a pipe bumper like my friend former member Lakeroadster did:
