I bought some cheap LED lights at Radio shack. Mine flash when a code sets so it will annoy the heck out of you until you clear it.

I did this. A bad pic, but it says "service engine" in the lower right unused location next to the brake light. I prefer the factory look though, so that's why I keep the stock gauges. I guess it depends on what year your truck is and what build style you're going for.

I didn't do a write up on it, but it was fairly straight forward. I took apart an '87 Chevy truck dash and took the part that says "service engine soon" out and put it in the slot that used to say "temp" on the 67-72 dash. The opening isn't big enough for the whole thing to show, so I just used the "service engine" part of it. Then I put a socket in the back and hooked power up to one lead and to the PCM on the other. Not hard at all.
