1966 327 green engine - help me prove it!
I got in to a friendly discussion with a gentleman at a car show over the weekend. He has built several NICE original trucks that are restored to original. In his current truck, the correct 327 was painted gray like the 283's are. He told me (and I agree) that the chart in the back of a 1966 owner's manual shows that 283 and 327 are both supposed to be painted gray. However, I am 99% sure that the 327's are Alpine green. I told him I had an original paint valve cover with High Torque 327 decal still on it but he still seemed unsure. Does anyone have any factory photos or other literature that would confirm this? Thanks.
Joshua

Re: 1966 327 green engine - help me prove it!
This has been discussed many times on here, and the short answer is that there is tons of evidence.for the alpine green color (actually thats close to the sixes and i think i read the 327s were a little darker.). Anyways, lots of examples of unrestored green 327s (i had plenty of it under the orange someone rattle canned, and overspray on my bellhousing, balancer, etc). But i dont think anyone presented a single, unrestored or evidence of original grey 327. It seems to be that paper reference is the only reference to a grey 327 and is likely incorrect.
I am no expert, that is just the short of what i got reading from all over the place.

Thanks Cort. Is there a link that has pictures of untouched green engines?
