Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
Absolute junk. Had one, took it back out, bought a flaming river column.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
Why do you hate it? Just wondering. I will be buying a tilt some day.

Also read an article posted on here about construction of aftermarket columns. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=581452 Scared me a bit. Took mine out and installed a Flaming River. The CPP is in a box in my garage because I'd feel bad selling it and I paid too much to throw it out.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
I've got a CPP tilt in my 71. Didn't know about the numerous threads of poor quality, before I bought and installed it. I must say that, so far, I don't have any issues with it, other than the gear position indicator not lining up where it should be. It is definitely not as nice as an Ididit or Flaming River column though. It's been in my C10 for over a year now without any issues. It's not a daily driver, but I do drive it at least 100 miles per month, sometimes up to 1,000 miles in a week on a road trip.
I think if I did it again, I'd save the money and buy an Ididit column instead.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
They're no good...mine grinds when you move the shifter and the entire upper collar is clocked a few degrees off, making the entire column look crooked.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
Nothing better in quality than a reconditioned GM tilt column.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
I bought one on ebay, I have the tendency to buy parts store them and install them when I have everything I need, needless to say I had it for a few months before I was ready to install it, for starters the shift lever would not fit I had to grind it down a pit for it to even fit, the gear indicator will NOT point to the right gear no matter the adjustments I make, my grant steering installation kit rubs against the column, it is a POS to put it lightly, it is $325 for a reason, you most definitely get what you pay for and I definitely did, save your time money and frustration... DO NOT buy a CPP column you will live to regret it if you do

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
If you are looking for inexpensive and still want quality, go
With a van tilt. OEM GM and less than $200 most times on the board.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
Great.... All the problems described above are identical to what I have. Guess, I'm saving up for an Ididit column in the future.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
I bought one a couple of years ago and it was/is the reason I buy no more CPP parts.

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
I bought a superb tilt column, fully restored and painted to match, from a board vendor. Unfortunately the limit on the number of PMs that you can keep means I can't find the precise spelling of his userid, but I think it is:
70shortfleet Anyway, like new or better. Highly recommended, and you cannot beat GM for quality columns. Even back then the liability of producing anything but quality for steering was a recipe for corporate disaster. Not so for the Chinese company you buy a repop from...

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
Just finished install of this column. So far it seems to be a pretty decent product. I did have an issue with the upper collar and gear indicator but it was just a minor adjustment. I do wonder what the single black wire is for?

Re: Ccp tilt steering column?
I have one. So far it's OK. I'm sure it's not as good as some others but works for me. The single black wire is for the indicator light
