Issues with 87 k5 blazer

Having issues with my 350 tbi. To start things off it starters to run hot around 210. Have a 180 t stat. Fan clutch was working but since I was there replaced t stat also . Temp still a little higher than normal but I live in az an it's like 108 degrees. I decided to check timing an yes unhooked the brown wire , an for something I knew was at zero is now negative by 10 plus. Set back at zero an it pings , which before I did any work it did not ping, so I put it back to where it was before adjustment an still pings not as bad but still does. What would cause it to go this far negative an ping. Cap plugs wires rotor all replaced in past 4 months. Any help be great
