Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
This is for my 66 c10. Two questions about switching to dual circuit, but still non power and drums all around.
1) Are the fittings the same size throughout the whole system? Like if I go to the store with my old soft line and the hardline there fits it then its guaranteed it will fit the master cylinder? (plan to use the same MC Sharps used, Impala model I think.) 2) Can I just make life easier by buying some brake line kit that has everything to restore the brake lines on a later model dual circuit truck instead? I'm on a budget but its worth considering. I have the tools to cut and flare the lines already if that factors in the answer. Thanks!

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
I found quite a few threads on splitting brake lines, I'm not sure if one of these threads might help;

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
I just did this on my 63. I just asked for a drum/drum non-power master cylinder at the part store. They search the computer for c10s, and it ended up being a master cylinder from and early 70's c10. '71 I think.
I bought a generic brake line kit on Ebay. I replaced the wheel cylinders too. The brake stuff for these trucks seems to be cheap. The only hard part was finding new T-blocks locally. And you may have to lengthen the pedal push rod. I used coupling nut and a short piece of threaded rod. |

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
If you lines are in good shape it is an easy split. On the passenger side there is a tee with the line going to the back. Remove the line going to the back and put a plug in the tee put a union on the line going to the back and run a new line to to the new master cylinder. All the fittings and lines will be 1/4"

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
'71 is not right; '71 and up is a front disk brake setup. You need an earlier '67-'70 MC for 4 wheel drums.

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
I cant find the exact brake lines I got. It was something like this from the same seller. Basically just a bunch of lines of different length. It is enough to do 1.5 cars, several pieces left over. The rubber lines are same as stock.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-brake-...8349df&vxp=mtr The master I got was a for a 1970 c10. But I don't remember it being this expensive. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1292&ppt=C0066 |

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
inlinetube.com
Super easy, fits exactly and has all the correct fittings when you give them your application along with what system you will be using i.e. disc/drum....disc/disc etc. Dont forget the $11.00 frame clip kit, easy to keep them protected.

Re: Question for converting my brakes to dual circuit
Thanks for all the info everybody. I'll look at the links, if I go the FLAPS route at least I know what size line and fittings to get now, I hate running back and forth to the store for little stuff like that.
