Repair a Damaged Speedometer?
The speedometer was damaged, is there any way to economically repair a speedometer in this condition?
The face of the speedometer was crushed and broke the needle off as well. Is it possible to swap faces for another face and re-attach the needle? Is this a lost cause and more trouble than its worth to repair? It is a shame, because the face was in excellent condition. Thanks |

Re: Repair a Damaged Speedometer?
Your best bet it to poke around the Parts Board for a different one. It's going to be cheaper than having that repaired. If you want to become a Premium member you could post a Wanted to Buy.
Good luck.

Let me see what I have. If I have a decent one you can have it. All you need is the face and needle, right? I will check in the morning. LockDoc

If LocDoc cannot help you let me know.
I can repair what you have there or sell you a replacement. I can also calibrate it and make sure it works good for you. Take care, Tom

When you say calibrate, do you mean calibrating the speedometer to read accurate speed? I recently replaced my speedometer with one from a 4x4 Suburban and now it is off 6 mph at 55 mph. I changed the speedometer cable at the same time. It has left me a bit confused as I thought the calibration was done using the driven gear in the transmission. Can you shed any light on this? |
