Steering Column Interchange Question

Is there any way to make a steering column out of an 84 fit a 78?

I have the entire 84 as a donor truck. I already removed the steering column from the 78 because it's three on the tree, non tilt

I'm going to automatic and changed my mind about floor shift so I want the Auto/Tilt from the 84

Thing is I completely ignored the fact that the dashboard is much shorter on the 78, and I just noticed the wiring is very different as well.
