5.3 Sensors
I am looking at replacing all the sensors on the 5.3 are there ones better than others, are there some that I should steer away from.
Is price a factor in the quality of the sensors? What brand/number of spark plugs are most used?

Re: 5.3 Sensors
For engine sensors, I'd leave them alone if they aren't broken. If you don't want to leave them alone, go to the dealership. Yes, price is a factor - I've been burnt several times and so have many, many others. Used OEM sensor > New cheap sensor.

Re: 5.3 Sensors
I was fine with any of the Echlin (premium) stuff that napa has. The lower stuff works on my daily, but I always spent a couple $ extra for the Echlin, and its still cheaper than the dealer. I'd only buy Knock sensors from the dealer.
The defacto copper plug is the NGK TR55, if your gonna run a copper plug. Others will swear by the iridiums because of the high power coils, but most of them aren't building for performance. If you want a 50k mi plug on a stock swap, then thats a logical approach (way more per plug, but you don't buy em much). Copper plugs are $1.60ish each, but on a higher performance LS Motor you go through a set every other season probably.

Re: 5.3 Sensors
I dont knpw what brandis most used, but im almost positive that 8 is the number that are most used.
But seriously, I also wouldnt replace the sensors if they arent broke.I usually get new O2 sensors, but thats about it. Throwing parts at engines can get real expensive really quick.

Re: 5.3 Sensors
Oreilley crank position sensors are prone to failure. I a void them like the plague.

Re: 5.3 Sensors
There really isnt a sensor on the engine that is hard to get to once installed. The knock sensors are probably the hardest and even they are not all that hard, you can pull the intake in less than half an hour. I would pull your intake and look at them, if the holes havent been holding water and rusted them up, I would leave well enough alone, ive seen codes set by people over torquing them, they can be sensitive. Aside from that, just put it in and if you have a problem later just fix whats broken. I have a combined total of over 200k on all my swaps and havent really had any sensors go bad.

Re: 5.3 Sensors
This is going in a 46 Chevy PU and the front fenders are wide, but I guess I can mess up the paint later "if necessary"!!!
