wiring question; standalone harness LS1

Hy all

i am almost dones with the stripping of the original harness..
just need to re-route and hook up the relays and foose box.

I am just a bit confused about these three plugs ....as u can see on the pics..

First / second pics --> pls let me know for what i need the plugs ?

third pic --> The plug with the big wire goes to the starter....where do i need to hook up this wire ??

The first one looks like the coil plugs for one side. My harness had nothing left to the stater

First question is what year and model is the harness from?

I have not seen a LS harness with a jumper plug in it like your first picture. Did you happen to connect the 2 or was it like that? If you can tell me what pins it goes to in the ECM i can tell you what its for.

The second picture with the 3 pin round plug should be the oil pressure sender plug located in the center of the block behind the manifold.

The third picture with the heavy purple wire in the harness should have an eyelet on it not a plug. It looks like someone added the connector on your harness and removed the ring. The other side of the purple wire will go to the connector in the firewall which goes to the ignition switch. This wire should also be purple on the original body plug.

The harness is from a Camaro Z28 of 1999 / LS1 5.7 engine

I have not seen a LS harness with a jumper plug in it like your first picture. Did you happen to connect the 2 or was it like that? If you can tell me what pins it goes to in the ECM i can tell you what its for.

I will check / route the wire back to ECM ....give information tomorrow.
Honestly i dont see any reason why there is a jumper plug...it is just connecting the same colour wires ....maybe it is designed to do a diagnostic at this plug ????

I just checked some photos of the deinstallation of the engine.... so i found out that this plug goes to the A/C pressure valve..

The plug on the 3rd pic is the other end, that means u r right.. at the starter side the purple wire is connected via a eyelet.
The end wich u see on the pic is plugged above the passenger wheel, where all the C100 / C101 / C105 plugs have been located.

That means this purple cable i have to install to the ignition switch ? or relay ?

I had a 50/50 chance it was for the high pressure switch or the oil pressure switch but I went oil pressure because most of the time the ac plug has a tan grommet if i remember right.

I think you may need to run it to a relay. I will look when i am home.

The A/C high presure switch plug is important for me , cuz i am swapping also the A/C setup into the pickup...

I guess the purple wire goes to a relay...i just have to check if my current ignitions switch is working with a relay....so i just have to install the big purple wire and it should be done :-)

But pls let me know if ur purple wire has a relay ??

You don't need a starter relay, you can just hook the purple wire directly to the original heavy purple wire coming from the ignition switch, or just use the entire original purple wire and hook it to the starter. They originally had a starter relay, but it was to keep the starter from starting if the right key wasn't used, it's part of the VATs.

As for the jumper harness in the first pic, I'm fairly certain that its an extension for the cam sensor, it was like they designed the engine to have it in a different location, but then changed their minds and had to add the extension for it to reach. It's just an early LS1 thing to the best of my knowledge, and wasn't done that way on trucks or later engines.

Ls1nova beat me to the relay response, so I guess I can confirm he is right.

Also good info on the cam sensor extension. I have done about 10-12 harness reworks and never came across it, but it makes sense since almost all of them had the blue green connectors.

So i will eliminiate that jumper plug and connect the wires directly
..i dont want to have that ugly stuff on the top of the engine :-)

So pls keep ur fingers crossed for me that the rest goes fine :-)
