Covered porch repair
A few weeks ago I decided to jack up the support posts which bear the weight of my covered porch. They had definitely settled and needed attention. I could not get under the deck to do so. I decided to remove the 5/4x4 decking to reveal the rubber coated plywood beneath in order to cut access point near the supports. This is when I realized that the can-of-worms had been opened. Everything, and I mean everything was rotten beyond imagination. After some measurements it was obvious that the roof had settled 4" in the center. It was decided for me that I need to rebuild it from scratch. I made a list and ordered my supplies. The delivery showed up on time but came with no hardware and lots of it. Today I realized that whomever built the skid of lumber either was pissed or did not know what he was doing. It was layered backwards. Bottom to top, posts, beams, joists & decking.

That was a boring thread, but it kept me offline long enough to finish. And no I did not leave the truck at the dump,wise alecks!

Oh ya and the "America" plaque was given to me several years ago on July 4th. I attended a local car show and the very thoughtful ETsC10 (Ellen) mounted one of them on every 67-72 grille in our group! Thanks Ellen!
