harness stripping
so i've printed the pages and read through the harness strip down diy......my only question is how diff would an 04 6.0 harness be from the -02 he is writing about.....and if i wanted to keep/run ac just dont cut out all the related wires he has highlighted for removal?

The '04 would be similar, but not exactly the same. For instance, you will have an extra pink ignition wire for the TAC module. Basic rule of thumb is, pink wires are ignition hot wires, and orange are constant hot. Hook those up and it should run (VATS removed of course). As for the A/C, the '04 uses a serial data request line, where as the '02 uses a 12v request. In order to keep the PCM controlled A/C on an "04, you will need to wire the A/C part like an '03-'06 Express Van, and then have the request type changed in the tune from serial to 12v. ok, so just a matter of rewiring a couple wires. still on the fence if i should keep the ac wires in case i want a/c but the more i think of it........i could care less lol

If you buy or make a tool to unpin the wire from the connector, you can remove the wires you don't think you'll use and store them. If you ever have the need to add back a function to the PCM, you can simply re-pin the connector.
You can buy a pin tool for a couple of bucks, but a short piece of TIG rod works just about as well I keep an old shoebox full of wires I've unpinned from harnesses in my shop - I've dug out wires and re-pinned them more than once. |

awesome! i've made my mind up and not running AC so i'll just sell the stuff i have. about half way down with stripping the harness down. couldnt find any info on what to do with the DBW signal wires (3 on c100/1 on c2). 1st questionable wires i have encountered are the starter solenoid wire (thick purple) and one wire that goes to the alternator connector....the ends were cut (from c2 im sure) so what do i have to do with it? -__-

What color are the three wires on the TAC module? If they are dark blue , gray and gray/black, they're cruise control wires. As for the purple starter wire, you don't need it, just use your original wire from your truck. On the alternator, if the plug is cut off, you will need to find one and replace it.

didnt look at the tac mod side yet. just that there were 3 wires on c100 and 1 on c2 that were the cruise signal wires so i didnt cut those from the connectors yet.
C100 - A - DK BLUE - Cruise Set/Coast Signal C100 - L - GRAY - Cruise On Signal C100 - S - GRAY/BLK - Cruise Resume/Accel Signal C2 - A10 - LT BLUE - Stop Lamp Supply Voltage/CHMSL ok, so ill just remove the thick purple starter wire. check! the alt plug is still there, just when i was pulling the removed/cut wires down the harness......one wire led me to the alt plug. cant remember the color right meow....will confirm when im home from work. i've already got the b+ and ign wires taped from C1. i will tape/mark the standalone wires i have found so far tonite along with finishing the strip down...hopefully. but thanks for the help! |

LT1Swap.com shows two possible wires to connect to the brown alternator wire depending on the options your donor motor has. Both are from the green C2 PCM connector. See the green boxes below.

the wire i have is blue 0.o not brown or gray
\/\/\/ got the harness stripped from end to end....only TWO concerns with a couple remaining wires. a blue wire (from c100) goes to the alternator plug....i see a mention of an alt wire going to a pin to bypass a module, but neither color are blue. o.0 and 3 wires dark green, light green and gray (from c2 block) go to the pnp switch........ gonna start searching as to what is needed. |

You can eliminate the blue wire going to the alternator. Its the engine on signal for the supplemental brake assist pump motor mounted on the brake booster.As for the wires going to the PNP switch, they're back up lights and shift interlock wires, if youre not using the switch for back up lights you dont need them. The only wires you need to the PNP switch go straight to the PCM and nothing needs to be done to them.

you sir, are awesome. so id have to keep the back up light wire if i wanted working reverse lights? lol
and this ground splice is only connected on the front side now...just tape it up after stripping the last leg of the harness? |

LT1 swap has all the info you will need. I have reworked 3 harness so far. The main differences between 99-02 and 03-07 is the DBC/DBW connections and the O2 grounds.

You need to put ignition on power to the pink wire going to the range switch, and then hook the light green wire to the back up lights. You can get both wires (power and wire to lights) from the original back up light switch plug. I can get you pin locations for the wires on the range switch tonight when I go back to work if you need them.

is that pink wire not already gonna be supplied voltage being that it isnt a cut/depinned wire? so i can remove the dark green and gray wires.....cool beans. just what i needed to know. and i found a diagram showing it in some random thread i think on ls1tech but saw where a relay was used for something else....

got the pink wires cut last night....following what was done on lt1swap. i have 3 extra pink wires.
1 for the tac module, 2 from the nss also realized i cut out the ground wire from the c2 plug -_- there wasnt any mention of it in his diy so i just pulled it out along with every other cut wire. mehhhh. well i'll be soldering it back to the ground splice it came from. |
