Sort of a different hump question
My 61 Suburban came with a high hump trans cover but based on other things I am finding I don't trust that it came from factory that way. In digging into it it does not seem to fit right in picture you can see that it does not follow contour of floor pan. Can anyone tell me what if anything is wrong here? Floor pan does seem to be original. I also was hoping someone could tell me how the upper trains hump is supposed to be attached to the firewall previous owner had pop riveted. As always thanks

do you have a shot that isn't so close?
it should be bolted in. it was probably changed if that front piece is pulled out. on all years that front section is welded in (except on some of the 2.5 ton model trucks), and does not come out. does your sub show signs of having a low hump before? can you tell if it was a powerglide, or 3 speed on the column?

I have a 61 cab that has a high hump, but it was a 3/4 ton 3 on the tree, it has no hole in it for the shifter. my other 61 has a 3 on the tree, but it is a 1/2 ton low hump.
both were bolted in.

Does the front section have to be removed if one is changing from a low to a high hump. Mine is three on tree and yet it does have a high hump? That would explain why that front section was Mickey moused together with pop rivets. But still does not answer my other question of figment of the hump itself. In this picture just below the screwdriver you can see where the contour of the floor does not follow the mating of the trans hump. Is this normal?

yes, and yes, the front piece of the low hump has a different contour, and here is a pic of a high hump with the same fitment as yours..

Thanks guess I will clean up and weld the upper on properly bolt on the high hump tunnel that I have and keep on. Thanks for the input
