1974 C30 Motorhome help??
Hi all. It's been some time since I've been lurking around these parts as I've been out of the trucks for several years. I need some help on a recent purchase though......
1974 Chevrolet motor home with a 454. My question is, how do I get the engine out without destroying the motor home? I'm not worried about saving the motor home as its seen better days but a friend wanted it for some reason. My first thoughts were to just cut a hole in the side and pull the engine. Any thoughts?? Also, any other truck parts on this thing besides the tilt column? It has a pretty massive rear sway bar setup but not sure if it's a bolt on for trucks? Thanks! |

Re: 1974 C30 Motorhome help??
I would remove the grill, radiator, bumper etc and try to pull it out the front. Some dealers pull them out the bottom with a heavy duty jack kinda like a trans jack after removing the crossmember. I've heard of removing the door and taking it out that way with a forklift. Might have to pull the heads/intake in place first though. Good luck! Sounds like a huge PITA.

Pull the front off, pull the engine forward.
