235 Year Identification
Trying to get my motor sold to a guy but he wants to make sure it is in fact a 57 before he buys it. Casting numbers behind the starter are "SON4 K126". On the index's I've seen, these numbers don't jive at all. Can anyone help me out here??

That not a casting number it should be something like
3836386 Chevrolet 55-57 235 3837004 Chevrolet T56X 55-57 235-261 3838004 Chevrolet 55-57 235 The number stamped into the pad next to the Distributor will tell specific year and maybe transmission. |

K126 is date code November 12 1956. Back then new model year started in the fall so it could be a correct block for 57. Casting no 3836233 is also associated with 57 blocks.
