no dash lights
Alright so this might be a dumb question. But I'm finishing up my 64 and trying to fix electrical issues. I noticed I have no dash lights. My turn signals work kind of they don't flag flash but will turn on. Also the bright light indicator will come on but no back lighting. I checked the fuse panel and had no power to either side of the fuse. My dumb question is are the dash lights only on when the engine is on. My engine is not done yet so I can't check that. Also with my turn signals not blinking would that be in the turn signal cam, mine is broken and haven't ordered one yet?

Re: no dash lights
Did you check the flasher on the blinkers. Or you might have a short on one of you wires. The dash lights usually go on with the head light switch. You should probably check your bulbs and your fuse.

Re: no dash lights
On the fuse box the fuse labeled panel is not getting power on either side of the fuse. All the rest of the fuses are good.

Re: no dash lights
make sure you have tail and brake light power....instr. power goes through that fuse then back to the head light switch rheostat then to the instr. fuse then to the dash lights

Re: no dash lights
are all the turn lights working? if you have a standard flasher (not heavy duty) if any blubs are not working/missing then it wont flash that is to tell you that you have a light out ......IS your hood off?

Re: no dash lights
Hood is on. I just finished re wiring my tail lights. My tail lights work. I don't know if the break lights do, they should since they are through the same wire. I will have to double check, but last I looked there wasn't even power to the panel fuse.

Re: no dash lights
Be sure to check all your bulbs to shore all the supplements are intact. You might have to chase those panel wires to make sure there's no breaks. Are the head lights turning on?

Re: no dash lights
Your head light switch in the dash may have given up. Move it side to side and see if they come on....if you buy a new one don't buy a cheap one...I did that and ended up buying 4 before learning my lesson.

Re: no dash lights
So check this. I went to get some gas and drove over some bumps and now my dash lights work. None of the gauges and still have turn signal issues but I now have dash lights.

The indicator lights come on, sometimes one side sometimes both at the same time. But no blinking.

Re: no dash lights
There must be a bad wire contact somewhere or a bad wire. Try cleaning out all the wire plugs and look through all your wires for any kind of damage. You might also want to check the fuse pronges on the fuse box to make sure they are not loose.

Re: no dash lights
I have all new wires from the firewall back. I think it's in the colum. When I replaced the turn signal cam I noticed the metal pieces under the cam were messed up and a piece feel out. I've tried finding a new one but no luck so far.

Re: no dash lights
So I've somewhat installed the new turn signal switch. The turn signals now come on and stay on and on the right side. But still no blinking. They come on solid. So I've been told that all lights have to work in order for them to flash. All for signals work and so do the running lights. I don't think my break lights do. So I'm going to check and see if that's my issue. Does the stop switch control the break lights?
