License Plate Lights

Anyone who can give me an understanding how they're wired please let me know. Mine seem to have been custom wired and whatever they did in the past, they don't work with brand new fixtures. It seems to me like there's a ground connection missing.....

Re: License Plate Lights

one wire to lamp fixture, comes on and off with the light switch as all other clearance lights do. The ground is the fixture itself, and you will need to ck. it for corrosion inside for sure. Don't know how long you have had the truck, or from where it has lived, but you folks salt your roads and it may take replacing the fixture to get it fixed. ck the wire coming into the back of the fixture with a test light, it will at least let you know if you have voltage to the unit.

Thank you, that must be it. The fixtures are brand-y new but the bumper is rusty. I'll remove them and sand the bumper down where they make contact......
