1948 GMC build/ motor mounts

Hi guys I am building a 48 GMC for a guy and I have just about finished the MII suspension install and now Im getting info together for mocking up the trans and motor mounts. I havent decided what motor mounts im goin to use yet and was wondering if anyone had any photos and or measurements roughly where they placed the motor in relation to the MII crossmember. If possible photos would be nice just to see which mounts work the best with the exhaust and steering. I have looked in the build section and have seen some photos but none that were close up of the motor mounts. Thank you

Don't have any measurements, but I placed my engine back as close to the firewall as I could and still be able to remove the valve covers. The notch in the firewall will give you plenty of clearance for the distributor. I mounted my engine a little higher than most, but I wanted to make sure I have clearance for the steering. I also moved my column mount hole over about 2". Here are 3 pics from my build thread, hope it helps...Jim

Mine are buried in a box somewhere from moving, but if you can find someone that has "chassis engineering" mounts, they have instructions on how/where to locate the mounts if you have a MII. It includes enough info if you wanted to make some mounts yourself.

Re: 1948 GMC build/ motor mounts

motor mounts are about the easiest fab project around
the universal fit kits usually require cutting and welding, so save your self the money; cut and weld your own kit
since the doorknobs at the your flaps needs a number; 68 chevy truck motor mounts works
buy a foot of 3/8'' heavy wall tube (not pipe) tube is measured on the id and some 10 ga flat stock or square tubing

my truk comes up from the mustII x-member with 3/8 tube and 1.5 sq tube

these are a set the member parkwood on this forum fabricated with tube and 10 gauge

Thanks for the info and photos guys. It makes it a bit easier to picture it when you have a few options to look at. Ill post pics sometime of the truck as it progresses
