60-62 vs 63-66 rear bumper

I have a 62 C10 and going to buy a new rear bumper. I like the style of the 63-66 rear bumper (it has the tag indention on top correct?).

Question is: will the newer bumper bolt onto the 62 brackets?

I know the brackets are different between 60-62 and 63-66, but - will the newer bumper bolt onto the 62 brackets?

I think the only difference between the 60-62 and 63-66 is the brackets (where the holes are on the bumper)

So - if I bought 63-66 brackets and 63-66 bumper, that would work on the 62?
Guess I was thinking the frame-rails were different width between the two.. but don't know where I got that.

no. the frame rails on a 60-62 are 42" apart and the later ones are 34" apart

sorry, I left an important word out, the only difference between the bumpers is the location of the bracket holes. ron and your suspicions are correct, the frames are a different width

Re: 60-62 vs 63-66 rear bumper

They both have the tag indention on top. there is no visual reason to put a 63-66 rear bumper on a 62 unless you already have the 63-66 bumper and want to figure out how to install it on a 62.

Great. Thanks for the info everyone. I'll get a 60-62 bumper and brackets.

You can flip it, so flat is up. Or I did a 67-72 with brackets I made.

Cool - I might try flipping. I'd like to hide a receiver hitch behind the tag somehow.

Re: 60-62 vs 63-66 rear bumper

I picked up some bumper brackets from a swap meet....how do I tell if they are 60-62 or 63-66?
