Dash brace

Is there a dash brace that goes from the firewall to the steering column mount bolts? if so does anyone have a picture of the brace and one of it installed? also is it really necessary?

I have one that looks like it would be for that but it is slightly to long , or it is not the correct one.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Dash brace

I think that brace is pretty much required, it not only holds the dash in place it also braces the steering column if it is attached to the dash - I suggest using it. 2 bolts under the dash, 2 bolts on the firewall are stock, or a good welder.

Re: Dash brace

I kept my brace and attached it to a 1-1/2" angle I installed to tie the A pillar together when I removed the stock dash and installed another type. I also welded the two bolts going thru the firewall to the firewall, so it was smooth on the outside cowl firewall area. Here's couple pics showing the brace...Jim

Re: Dash brace

Classic Ind. replacement dash ad states it comes with the firewall brace - you might call and ask them if just the brace could be available - or any of the replacement body part dealers - maybe....
