th350 to 700r4

when you go from a th350 to a 700r4 do you need to change the drive line and or mounts?

i have a 1965 c10 with a 230 six

If it is a long shaft TH350 no. If it is a short shaft then you will have to get the drive line shortened. The crossmember and mount are the same but you will probably have to redrill the frame if the crossmember is moved back also. Mine had to sets of holes so it worked out for me. The long shaft 350 is 6 or 9 inches. Oh my old brain is failing me. hahaha

With bolting the 700R4 up to a 230 I6, you're going to have to do some research and fabricating to come up with a cable bracket and throttle bracket to get the correct geometry so that the TV cable is operating correctly and giving you line pressures that are within spec. Otherwise you will burn up that trans in a short time.

Bowtie Overdrives has a lot of stuff you need to hookup the 700R4. The TV cable and carb bracket, crossmembers, lockup kits. You name it. They also have instructions for setting up the TV cable. As Captain said if you don't set it up right you can burn the transmission up within 10 miles.
