Damper Removeable on a 6cyl - Help

I would like to remove the balancer on my 6cyl engine. I think it is a 68 engine. I just don't see how it comes off. I have used a damper pullers on other engines but this has no big bolt..? It has a small rounded indent and thats it. Thanks.

All are pressed on...you should be able to pulley if off with a balancer puller. My 292's balancer has the bolt...but was also pressed on....keyed shaft.

I used an impact wrench and a puller set from HF. The photo shows that I forgot to put washers under the bolt heads but you get the idea.

Yes it looks like that one. So no bolt that goes
Into the crank? Just use the puller and it should
Come off? How would you press it back on? Thanks

It is a press fit. Take good photos so you will get it back on in the same position.
Remove it with a puller like I did.
I made a wooden block to help put it back on. I'll post pics of that when I get home later tonight. Basically you will use a torch to heat up the balancer until water will sizzle. Add a little grease to the crank snout. Then I smacked it back on using the wood block as a driving tool. You don't want to hit the outer ring.

Some might suggest that you drill and tap the crank snout. I didn't have tools for that so I just smacked it back on but I was careful and planned it well so it worked fine. More pics to come.

Yeah, standard puller to get it off. I ended up drilling and tapping the crank so I could use a standard installer to put the new one on. Ended up being very simple to do, if you have the tools. Cast crank is easy to drill and tap.

Here's a simple wooden block made from two 2X4s. I bored out a hole so the crank wouldn't run into the wood block.
Get the center area of the balancer good and hot with a torch. Water sizzles hot.
have a little grease on the crank snout.
Line up the woodruff key and use the wood block and a 3# sledge to tap it on.
The wood block allows you to strike it dead center and avoids binding. Do not hit the outer ring as it may come loose and ruin the balancer.
If you can borrow the correct tools to tap the center of the crank and get a bolt in, then that is a good option too.
