Re: how much paint?

I had a quart for the inside and I only got the top, dash, and back wall sprayed with 2 coats and the floor and firewall 1 coat and ran out. Made me so mad! I hate running out of paint. Still have to paint the inside of the doors too. So at least 2 quarts maybe 3.

Re: how much paint?

It all depends on gun type and paint. 1 quart of ppg single stage with reducer and activator would be plenty out of a good gun. If using a cheaper gravity fed gun with a stock cup you end up wasting some paint due to angle of application on the roof. I use pps (positive pressure system) with a good gun so I can spray at any angle. I would get two qts to be safe and reducers and activators. What brand of paint were you lookin at? I only have a Qt of house of kolor candy red to do the inside of my 65 so will c.

Re: how much paint?

Check with the paint mixer first to see if it is a color that covers well. Some reds and Yellows seem to require twice as much paint to cover. Also depends on how much contrast from primer to paint. Some painters tint the primer or sealer to make it cover better.

Re: how much paint?

If I rememeber correctly BASF is a 4-1 mix on bascoat clearcoat so two qts should be plenty depending on color. if it's a lighter color then get 3. Single stage might be the way to go for you just don't know the mix ratio off hand for it but ss paints tend to cover better with cheaper guns. Lay your first coat kinda light maybe a 30% overlap in coverage then on the second go with a 75% overlap and go slower to achieve that nice wet look.

Re: how much paint?

I will also vote for 2 qts. It's nice to have a little left over (for touch up or whatever) as opposed to running out.
