c10 6.0 lq9 4l80e swap shift linkage

I did a 6.0l 4l80e swap in my 76 c10 and wanted to share how I did my Shift linkage setup. Even when my truck had th350 the shifter never lined up exactly right so when I swapped in the new drive train I wanted an accurate reading, and also have PRND321 and have the needle land exactly on every letter and number. I used the stock linkage that went from the column to the frame and removed it.
1st cut 1.5 inches off of the end of the rod at the column that has the cotter pin and a sharp 90*, flip the rod 180* (the original end that was at the steering column is now transmission end.

2nd thread each and install rod end from local hardware I got mine from ACE
should look something like this

I made a plate that attaches to the original 4l80e linkage I can make more if anyone is interested in doing this...

Here is a pic assembled

bolt the plate to the 4l80e linkage by pressing out oe stud at bottom and drilling it to 1/4" place plate on there and drill another hole and add a spacer.

bolt the modified 4l80e shift linkage on and install the new/ old modified shift rod back on and you get a smooth solid gear select.

As for the needle and the PRND321 I made these... with would come with the plate for the shifter...

Align perfect and can use all gears even dropping all the way into low 1
PM me if anyone is interested in the plate that bolts to the 4l80e shifter and sticker.
I will add some pics of the gear select needle on each letter and number..

I figured alot of guys would like this because it works and its simple and its not a $60 shifter from a a big name company that still needs modified. I think I had $20 in it and that was because I got the good rod ends from ace.

Here are some updates on PRND321 sticker. they line up pretty well but the spacing is different from the letters to the numbers. so when its in 1st all the way to the right it is just past it but other than that it lines up better than my original ever did.

I just used 3M adhesive and taped around the area and sprayed each surface and let it tack up for about 1 min and stuck it on it makes for a permenate adhesion
well back to the rear 4 link with coilovers

Very nice. I had to construct a similar "ratio adapter arm" for the transmission side on my '69 C30. I retained the stock linkage and just used the already available 4-speed column insert. It isn't perfect either. But it serves the purpose and I have full range. I still need to adjust the neutral safety switch one of these days. Don't forget to check yours.
