Gauge cluster restoration

I would like to have the speedo and cluster redone for my AD. I see that board vendor Bowtie Bits offers this service, and Bob's Speedometer in MI is a big advertiser in Hemming's. Anyone use either of these and have an opinion or recommend anyone else?

These were rebuilt by Classic Parts of America, Riverside, MO 64150. I am pleased with their products.

what engine are you using ?

I was convinced that the original positive ground, low oil pressure and temps needed to be upgraded for a more modern engine, I put in a GM 5.7, the gauges got done to fit.

I was running the stock engine. However, the GMC's were positive ground and mine is a Chevy which was Negative ground. I upgraded to a 12v system so I had to swap out the bulbs and add a voltage reducer for the gas gauge but that was it. If you are running a trans with a speedo cable and not an electrical system the speedo will work with you 5.7, it just might need a different speedo gear to make it read right. The other gauges are mechanical so you would just need to hook the battery gauge up to power, temp to the engine (maybe have to tap a hole?), and for the v8 you'd need a different oil pressur gauge to put in there but classicparts.com has them.

Hey where did you get the sticker kit? If that's what it is. Did you also have to repair any of the mechanics of the gauges?

All of the parts places sell the decals. They run about $10 for the set.

I didn't have to repair anything since all the gauges worked. It was all cosmetic. classicparts.com will have everything you need, even new internals if you need it. For a v8 swap they will have the oil gauge you need to swap in too. To do the cosmetic work I ordered the decals, new speedo needle, bezels, gaskets, and bulbs from classicparts.com.

The brown paint is just a krylon spray paint that was a close match. Its a krylon camo color but they have a few browns. I could go find the can and look later if you want since I had some left. I painted the gauge needles myself using white paint for model cars that I got at a hobby shop. The gauge labels are a transfer from Archer's. I can hook you up with that link too if you want.
