Performance shift mode wire?
Hello! I have not had a chance to call BP Automotive and ask what this wire is for but I thought maybe someone on here could answer.
I have a wire off of the BP Automotive Harness that is labels performance shift I have not idea what it is for or how to use it. I tried searching everywhere but I have not found the answer. Any ideas? I still have the other ones like TCC so its not that. Thanks, Rich |

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
My guess is its the the tow/haul wire that some folks use to switch to a different set of tq management and shift settings. Your tuner needs to actually set those parameters.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
Look up "tow/haul performance mode"
You'll get a list of threads from Ls1tech, HPTuners forums, and a few other places. They Explain how it works in more detail. Usually it would wire to the tow/haul button on the stalk, iirc, you just hook it to a switch. With the settings in the ecm, when the switch is on, it will change modes. They have more specific info on how to wire the switch.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
Thank you! Going to try to wire in a lighted momentary switch to use for this.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
If it is in fact a "tow/haul" wire, it would need a momentary switch to ground. As Brew said, it needs to be enabled in the tune to function without the BCM. As for an indicator light to know when it's on, I have never been able to figure out how to do it. I rarely use mine, as it just delays the shifts, and I usually dont think about it.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
I hope its a momentary switch since that is what it says but it is confusing. I think I will message them and find out.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
I emailed them and was told "It's on and off switch" so its not what the descriptions say, I hate sellers like this that use wording to trick you into believe it is one this and its not. I just bought a not lighted one that should work good and is a real momentary switch.

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
AllElectronics.com or Mouser.com will have about 500 options for you. As a warning, cheap led-lit toggles and momentaries can leak on the light circuit and cause false continuity. I usually avoid lit switches, and instead wire in an indicator LED

Re: Performance shift mode wire?
This only works on early operating systems. Not all p59 ls1 style pcm's.
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...-Switch-Option Tow haul is the same as performance mode switch. It is enabled with a momentary switch like a door bell button. One press enables it; a second press disables it. Every time you shut off the car, it goes back to normal mode. The trans pressures and shift points are changed as it uses differnt settings in the trans tables.
