OK, I'm DEFINATELY going 5/7!!!

So, I was out shooting the breeze with my buddies tonight, and up rolls this beige C10. Looks like an 81-87 right off the bat (quad headlight setup) So I ask the guy...
Me: "What year is that, 80's?"
Jeff: "Naw, it's a 75, with an 82 front clip and bed."

So, obviously this peaked my interest...I also noticed it was SLAMMED, so next I asked him

Me: "So what's it down, 5/7?"
Jeff: "Yeah, good guess. It's all DJM ****, spindles/springs, flip kit/shackles."
So then, of course the next thing out of my mouth is
Me: "Ohh, so you gave up long tube's and just went for looks right?"
Jeff: "Huh? No, I got long tube's."
Me: "You must scrape like a MOFO huh?"
Jeff: "Naw, only when I go over good size speed bumps, but other than that, hardly ever."
Me: "What brand are they? Thorley's?"
Jeff: "Naw, cheapy Hedmann."

So of course, I had to see if his **** checked out...and it did, he popped the hood, and was rollin a 355 with a mild cam/torqer/750/100hp NOS kit. I looked at his headers and they had a good 3" of clearance. So my next question is how good does it ride...

Me: "Hey bro, you don't mind taking me for a ride in this do ya? I got a 75 parked at home with a 3/5 drop, mild 355, and I'm considering taking it down another 2", I just wanna see how rides."
Jeff: "No prollem man, hop in."

I can't believe how good it rode compared to mine!! So it's DEFINATELY time for me to get some 255/50's and drop it another 2".
Ohh yeah, I would have KILLED to have my camera with me, so I coulda showed you guys this truck...but I got a feeling I'll see him again 2moro night, in which I'll have my C10 ready to race. (Since when he took me for a ride, he also showed off a little by flooring it and taking it up to 75...which took a WHILE to get to."

I have 5/7 with long tubes and I have never scraped my headers. Of course I drive my truck about once a month. The 5/7 coming off next month for the bags and the narrowed 9 inch. The parts will be for sale if anyone is interested Tim, did the guy hit the NOS when he took you for a spin?

go for it then. but all it takes is one good hit to crack your heads. so i'm gonna put a little more work into it and run full length f-bod headers and a custom tranny crossmember

All this time, those cheap Hedman headers have been stopping you from going 5/7"?

Glad you have made your mind up though. The truck will look great, man!
