I am going from a long tail transmission to a short tail. My drive line will have to be lengthened. Do you guys know of some good links to buy one the right lenght or should I just take it and have a good welder who knows what he is doing weld a little more in?

You need to search locally for a driveline repair shop. It will need to be balanced after it is lenghtened. I did a quick search for Idabel and found this one in Tulsa http://driveshaftsoftulsa.reachlocal.net/ and this one in Nash Tx., Ark La Tex Driveshaft 120 Industrial, Nash, TX 75569 (903) 831-7716. Can't speak for either one since I live in S.E. Texas. Another place to check would be your local parts for some recommendations.

I had to get a drive shaft made for my '76 LS swap. I bought a used shaft that was way to long and did my measurement and had it shortened. I have not been able to find a shop that would "lengthened", but many will shorten or custom build.

In my search for a solution I found some on line resources for custom built shafts, but I wanted to have some one I could call and ask specific questions. I saved about $100, a new custom shaft was around $350.

Drive shaft shop only ones can get true and balanced. Back in my lifted 4wd days had them lengthed all the time its just a tube they cut the ends of weld to longer tube. shortning is easier yet.

I think I will got get a long bed drive shaft and just have 2 feet and 2 inches removed. It sounds like the way to go. Called a drive shaft place in Texarkana and they wanted $375 to do it. I can buy a custom driveline for that much.

My local drive shaft shop charges about 350 for a custom made one,And before you buy one ask them how they want it measured because once they make it its yours no money back or redo if it don't fit right.
