Re: Rally Wheel Width
The truck rallys came in 7 and 8" widths. The 6 1/2" were available on the vans. The width is measured between the rim beads.

Re: Rally Wheel Width
That's what I figured. I measured with the tire on the rim, air out laying flat on the floor with a straight edge across the to and I got 9" with a 4 1/2 inch backspace. So I'm thinking a 10" wheel with a 5" backspace.

Re: Rally Wheel Width
Does a 265/70 stretch over a 10?

Also, on a GM 8" rally, you will see 15x8 JJ stamped somewhere on the wheel. This should help:

275/60's would get my vote. They look nice & square on a 10" wheel vs pinched slightly & the height remains close to OE.

Re: Rally Wheel Width
Back in the day, I had 275/60s on all 4 corners of an 81 LWB with 8" rallys. The tires were probably a bit wide for the wheels, but they looked OK and the truck would grip the road like crazy in corners.
Turns out BFG recommends 7.5" to 9.5" wheels. Go here and click on the "Specs" tab below the tire pictures. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
